Dr. Galo Pesantez Cuesta
Honors and Awards
The PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ITALY, in agreement with his Council of Ministers, awarded him the "CONDECORATION OF THE ORDER OF MERIT OF THE ITALIAN REPUBLIC" in the grade of CAVALIERE, in recognition of his contributions to the scientific and social activities developed by Dr. Pesantez in the field of neurology and the treatment of people affected by epilepsy.
Dr. Galo Pesántez Cuesta was designated as AMBASSADOR FOR EPILEPSY in the city of BARCELONA - SPAIN, within the framework of the 32nd International Congress of the International League Against Epilepsy and the International Bureau for Epilepsy. This award is intended to recognize outstanding achievements in the international fight against epilepsy. Candidates, elected by the ILAE/IBE Joint Executive Committee every two years, must have made a commitment "above and beyond the call of duty", on a voluntary or professional basis, in the field of epilepsy.
At the UNIVERSITY OF PARIS / FRANCE, he received the distinction of PROFESSOR HONORIS CAUSA from the International Organization of Psychomotricity of Paris, in recognition of the International Project (France, Italy, Mexico, Ecuador) "Neuropsychomotricity, an aid in the treatment of children with Epilepsy", which was led by Dr. Pesantez, through the Ecuadorian Chapter of the International Bureau for Epilepsy.
The METROPOLITAN COUNCIL OF QUITO -ECUADOR, awarded him the CONDECORATION "FEDERICO GONZALEZ SUAREZ", an award for outstanding personalities in the scientific and academic field.

The TOR VERGATA UNIVERSITY OF ROME - ITALY awarded him the DEGREE OF MAGISTER IN NEUROPEDIATRY.
At the INSTITUTO SUPERIOR DE PSICOMOTRICIDAD DE PARIS - FRANCE, he received the INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN BODY SCIENCES AND TECHNIQUES awarded by the International Organization of Psychomotricity of Paris.
The UNIVERSITY OF VERONA - ITALY through an international competition received a scholarship and then certification as an EPILEPTOLOGIST.
The UNIVERSITY OF BOSTON - USA awarded him the position of FELLOW OF NEUROPEDIATRY of the HOSPITAL OF BOSTON.
It was the KING OF SPAIN, who granted him the title of SPECIALIST IN NEUROLOGY through the UNIVERSITY COMPLUTENSE OF MADRID - SPAIN.
The UNIVERSIDAD AUTÓNOMA DE MADRID - SPAIN, granted him a diploma in neurology.
The UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK - USA granted him the position of FELLOW OF NEUROLOGY of the VETERANS ADMINISTRATION HOSPITAL OF SYRACUSE.
The UNIVERSITY OF CUENCA granted him the title of DOCTOR IN MEDICINE AND SURGERY.
Academic Activities
At the PONTIFICIA UNIVERSIDAD CATÓLICA DEL ECUADOR he was PRINCIPAL PROFESSOR OF NEUROLOGY AND PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGY at the Faculties of Medicine and Psychology.
Anually, he has been a professor at the UNIVERITE DE ÊTE DE PARIS of the Organization of Psychomotricity and Relaxation.
In Guatemala City, he was accredited as ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF NEUROLOGY OF THE WORLD FEDERATION OF NEUROLOGY through the UNIVERSITY OF SAN CARLOS DE GUATEMALA.
Dr. Pesantez was invited as PROFESSOR OF NEUROPEDIATRY at TUFTS UNIVERSITY OF BOSTON - USA.
FOUNDER AND PRINCIPAL PROFESSOR of the SCHOOL OF DEVELOPMENTAL NEUROLOGY AND PSYCHOMOTRICITY of Quito.

CENTRO NACIONAL DE EPILEPSIA (ECUADOR): Charitable institution established for the control and treatment of the epilepsy. Thorough a well-established team has been possible to give the best and complete service to the patient with epilepsy and his family. The center has several agreements with some state institutions and Universities and treats to serve to the enormous population of low economical resources.
